Youth Leadership

The Charlotte County Youth Action Board (YAB) recently had the opportunity to interview some of our amazing community partners during the 2024 Giving Challenge. With the support of the Gulf Coast Partnership (GCP), the YAB sought to highlight the important work being done by these organizations in the community.

Angela Hogan, CEO of Gulf Coast Partnership, Brittany Fining, Director of Programs for Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, Chris Oester, SAMHSA & Coordinated Entry Director for Gulf Coast Partnership, Chris Zimmer, Executive Director for Charlotte County Imagination Library (Gilstad Literacy Foundation), Anne Bouhebent, Executive Director for Early Learning Coalition, Hal Trejo, Executive Director for All Rainbow & Allied Youth (ARAY), Suzanne Roberts, CEO of Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic (VBA), Deb Houck, Long-Term Recovery Director for Gulf Coast Partnership, and Jerry Presseller, President of St. Vincent de Paul's Sacred Heart Conference were among the community partners who graciously agreed to participate in these interviews.

The interviews, streamed live on our various social media platforms, provided insight into the diverse range of services and support that these organizations offer to members of our community. From addressing homelessness and mental health issues to promoting literacy and early childhood education, each organization plays a vital role in improving the lives of Charlotte County residents, especially those most vulnerable and without a natural support system.

Through these interviews, the YAB was able to showcase the impact of these organizations and the valuable contributions they make to the Charlotte County community. It was an opportunity to not only express gratitude for their hard work and dedication but also to inspire others to get involved and support these important causes.

Overall, the 2024 Giving Challenge, hosted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota, with giving strengthened by The Patterson Foundation, served as a reminder of the power of community partnerships and the positive change that can be achieved when organizations come together for a common goal. The YAB looks forward to continuing to work with these partners and making a lasting impact in our community.
