SAMHSA Update

Gulf Coast Partnership (GCP) and Charlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) have successfully operated the One Charlotte Integrated Care Team for two years, served 120 clients, housed 60 clients, and improved the level of functioning of more than 85% of discharged clients.

In Year 1 there were 19 project discharges. Of these 19 cases, 40% were socially connected at project intake, and 96% were socially connected by project discharge!

In Year 2 there were 33 project discharges. Of these 33 cases, 39.4% were socially connected at project intake, and 93.9% were socially connected by project discharge!

Over the two years of the program, we’ve maintained an overall permanent housing retention rate of 93.61%.

7 SSI/SSDI applications have been either approved or reinstated through this program.

The work of the One Charlotte Integrated Care Team has demonstrated a positive effect on the health and lives of individuals experiencing homelessness with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or Co-Occurring Disorder (COD). Across nearly every National Outcome Measure, Charlotte County’s SAMHSA - Grants for the Benefit of Homeless Individuals (GBHI) program shows marked improvement from intake to 6-month follow-up; beyond this, all but one National Outcome Measure in Charlotte County demonstrates a drastic rate of change when compared to the national average.

Please see the figures below for a comparison of National Outcome Measures on the national level and National Outcome Measures as measured through the work of the One Charlotte Integrated Care Team (OCICT).

Below is a sample of aggregated unduplicated client responses from surveys provided every 6 months and upon discharge. These results are cumulative across the two years of the program; in Year 3 we’re updating the surveys to track client experiences to compare year over year. The sample size for this data analysis is 11 clients who were tracked from their 6-month survey to their discharge survey. Clients were asked 44 questions on topics ranging from satisfaction with services to self-confidence and life enjoyment. Clients were asked to rank their agreement/disagreement with statements using a scale of 1-5 (1 - Strongly Disagree, 2 - Disagree, 3 - Undecided, 4 - Agree, 5 - Strongly Agree), with the option to respond “Not Applicable” to any question.
