As the month begins, the Gulf Coast Partnership (GCP) prepares to bid a fond farewell to our long-time home above the historic Icehouse in downtown Punta Gorda. For nearly seven years, the Icehouse has served as more than just an office space for the GCP; it has been a hub of collaboration, hard work, and a source of inspiration.
Nestled in the heart of beautiful downtown Punta Gorda, the Icehouse has witnessed the growth and evolution of the GCP since our formation in July 2017. From a small team of three to a dynamic group of 13 passionate staff members, the Icehouse has been witness to our journey, providing us with not only a workspace but a community.
As we pack our bags and prepare to move to the incredible state-of-the-art Family Services Center in Port Charlotte, we can't help but reflect on the memories created within the walls of 408 Tamiami Trail Units 121 and 122. The Icehouse has been so much more than just our office; it has been a home away from home, a place where incredible ideas were born, and impactful community solutions were crafted.
One cannot reminisce about our time spent above the Icehouse without acknowledging the fantastic culinary delights it has offered. The delectable Cheeseburger in Paradise soup, a GCP'er favorite, has fueled our team through countless hours of dedicated work. The Icehouse's incredible food has been a source of nourishment, comfort, and camaraderie. Where will Tracy get her oyster crackers from now?
Through the years, we've had our fair share of challenges and deadlines, but the lively cheers from dart enthusiasts below added a unique soundtrack to our space. While we occasionally envied their leisure, the spirited atmosphere kept us energized and focused on our mission to address community issues.
To the staff and owners of the Icehouse Pub, we extend our deepest gratitude for welcoming us into your space and becoming part of our extended family. The memories created here will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Though we may be saying goodbye to our first home, we promise to return for visits, keeping the connection alive.
We are excitedly embarking on this new chapter at the Family Services Center. We can't wait to work alongside countless amazing community partners who share our commitment to making a difference. The Icehouse will always be a part of our history, and as we close this chapter, we look forward to the endless possibilities that await us in our new home!
