This month, the Gulf Coast Partnership proudly celebrates Diane Ramseyer, Executive Director of Drug Free Charlotte County (DFCC), for her extraordinary contributions to Charlotte County and beyond. For over 11 years, Diane has been at the helm of DFCC, leading efforts to educate and empower youth while fostering a healthier, safer community for all. Her work has been a cornerstone of prevention and advocacy, creating a lasting impact that will be felt for generations.
Diane’s journey is one of unwavering dedication and innovation. A proud Ohio native who grew up on a potato farm, Diane spent two decades at a community behavioral health center in Ohio, where she spearheaded housing initiatives and guided the community’s continuum of care system. After relocating to Florida, she continued her mission of public service with the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota, coordinating four Community Health Action Teams before joining DFCC in June 2013.
Her leadership at DFCC has been transformational. Since its inception in 2002, DFCC has been a trusted presence in Charlotte County Public Schools, educating youth and building partnerships to address substance abuse prevention. Diane’s vision has led to groundbreaking programs like the Kids Thrive Collaborative, which provides vital resources and support for women in recovery who are parenting. Her ability to bring together funders, nonprofits, and community members to scale these programs has been nothing short of remarkable.
Jennifer Johnston, Director of Community Leadership for Gulf Coast Community Foundation, shared, “Diane innovates to launch programs and works hard to scale and grow them. She has been a leader in creating resources and connections for women in recovery. Her dedication to creating a safer, kinder world for women who need a hand up is truly remarkable.”
As Diane prepares to retire, her legacy as a community leader, advocate, and changemaker is cemented in Charlotte County’s story. Though stepping back, Diane looks forward to traveling, spending more time with her family, and spoiling her newest grandchild, expected in January. Yet, true to her spirit, she isn’t ready to stop making a difference entirely and plans to remain active in the community and working on initiatives that are important to her.
Diane, we honor you for your tireless dedication, boundless compassion, and inspiring leadership. Your work has transformed lives and will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and progress in our community.
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement and this exciting new chapter! You are a true shining star!
