Gulf Coast Partnership, Together We Can

Logo for MosaicThe Mosaic Company has invested $5,000 with the Gulf Coast Partnership to support the work of the COAD in creating a strong and agile system of coordination between non-profits and government agencies during and after a disaster.

“We assumed the COAD would activate for a natural disaster like a hurricane or flood. Like everyone, we were unprepared for a pandemic and the type of response that was necessary” said Angela Hogan, Gulf Coast Partnership’s CEO. “We needed to find innovative ways to support the medical, human, and social effects of COVID-19, especially for the most vulnerable members of our community.”

The grant from The Mosaic Company allowed the Gulf Coast Partnership to expand their office space to accommodate the work of disaster response. This expansion, as well as the services provided under the COAD, were necessary to increase the community’s service capacity. The most important job of the Gulf Coast Partnership and the COAD is to coordinate services and provide resources for agencies on the front lines. The impacts provided through this grant include an increase in vital operating funding brought to the community through state and federal sources to run shelters, house people experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, feed the hungry, provide street outreach, mental health, physical health, and other life sustaining functions.
