More than a year ago, the Veteran Homeless Committee in Charlotte County celebrated effectively ending veteran homelessness, as defined by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.  We are proud to announce that Charlotte County still maintains this status for Veterans due to the efforts of agencies such as Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS), The Homeless Coalition, Volunteers of America (VOA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Jesus Loves You Outreach, and Charlotte County Veteran Services.

Further, in order to expand on the success of the Veteran Homeless Committee’s efforts, over the last few months, the Veteran Homeless and Chronically Homeless Committees have transitioned into the Gulf Coast Partnership’s One Charlotte Coordinated Entry Team.  Through One Charlotte, the work of the Veteran Homeless Committee continues to prioritize veterans and expands on its role to help all homeless individuals and families get identified, assessed, prioritized, and referred to housing services as quickly as possible so that when homelessness does occur, it is rare, brief, and non-recurring.
