Gulf Coast Partnership Awarded $252,790 for Tier 1 Projects by HUD

On January 14, 2020, HUD announced $2.16 billion in grants to provide funding to 6,595 local homeless housing and service programs across the U.S. and its territories. These Continuum of Care (CoC) grants provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, states, and local governments to quickly rehouse individuals and families experiencing homelessness and provide support while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness.

The Tier 1 funding announcement includes Renewal, New, Domestic Violence (DV) Bonus, and CoC Planning projects. For FL-602 we received 100% of our Tier 1 requests:

  • Renewal – HMIS Renewal FY2019 $70,061
  • Reallocation – SVdP – Returning Home RRH $105,436
  • Renewal – JFCS RRH $18,473
  • Renewal – CARE DV Bonus SSO-CE $50,000
  • New – GCP CoC Planning $8,820
Tier 1 Total for FL-602: $252,790

HUD will award approximately $122 million in Tier 2 funding to support hundreds of local projects in the near future. Tier 2 grants will include Renewal, New, and DV Bonus projects and projects straddling Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be announced along with other Tier 2 projects. For FL-602, the Tier 2 Pending Projects are:

  • Renewal – JFCS RRH $12,034
  • New DV Bonus – CARE DV Bonus RRH $50,000
  • New CoC Bonus – JFCS Unaccompanied Youth RRH $14,701
Tier 2 Pending Total for FL-602: $76,735

Last year there was approximately two weeks between the Tier 1 and Tier 2 announcements. The Tier 2 announcement will be posted as soon as HUD releases it
