The Gulf Coast Partnership is looking for volunteers to help survey the local homeless population in Charlotte County. The Point In Time (PIT) Count is an annual event created by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to get a more accurate picture of homelessness in the local community and also nationwide. This in turn, allows for the more efficient allocation of federal dollars in order to help prevent and end homelessness.
The 2018 PIT Count will be held on January 24, 2018. We will be needing volunteers willing to accompany law enforcement officers to local homeless gathering places and encampments in order to survey homeless persons where they are and where the live.
